Cultural events production
The Celtic Arts Foundation (CAF) is a 501(c)(3) non profit organization that produces events in King County and around the Puget Sound region. Established in 1997 to “sponsor, encourage and promote Celtic culture through events and educational activities,” CAF is best known in King County for presenting the annual Mastery of Scottish Arts concert held at Benaroya Hall in Seattle. This concert features 14 of the world’s finest bagpipers, drummers and fiddlers from Scotland and Canada. These incredible performers play stirring tunes in the unparalleled acoustic excellence of Benaroya Hall. Much more than just an opportunity for foot-stomping tunes, this concert also showcases beautiful Highland dancers and the colorful spectacle they present in their intricate and complex dances
CAF also presents the Celtic Arts Winter School held in Seabeck WA in February, where those same Benaroya master pipers, fiddlers and drummers provide instruction to aspiring artists from around the State and beyond. Finally, CAF presents the Skagit Valley Highland Games in Mount Vernon each July entertaining well over 10,000 people annually.
In addition to those major events, CAF sponsors sanctioned Highland dancing championships, smaller concerts and Celtic cultural events throughout the
year. Scholarships and grants have been awarded by CAF to aspiring Celtic artists pursuing Celtic music and dance – with well over $10,000 in both 2009 and 2010. The Celtic Arts Foundation is a thriving non-profit that presents quality family-oriented cultural activities in several counties of Washington State.
